The Nikaizushi is a two-tiered shelf on the upper section and a double-door cabinet on the lower section. It is adorned with nashiji maki-e and raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) in a paulownia and bamboo motif. This piece played a central role among the furnishings in aristocratic residences during the Heian period.
