Passing through the Otsunegoten building of Kyoto Omiya Imperial Palace and the small gate in the Tsujibei wall on the east side, you will find the Kitaike (North Pond) spreading out before your eyes. To the right is Momijiyama (Maple Mountain), and in front of you is Nakajima (the central island), with the Higashiyama Mountain range in the background, incorporated as borrowed scenery. The gently curving garden path evokes a peaceful and serene landscape. As you walk along the path, you will come across the Rokumaibashi (Six-Stone-Slab Bridge) made of six cut stones at Akoseguchi, and a unique stone bridge resembling a Yatsuhashi (Eight-Plank Bridge) made of two cut stones arranged in a staggered manner on Nakajima. In autumn, the path is adorned with colorful autumn leaves, and in spring, it is decorated with flowers such as satsuki and azaleas.
