On the southern shore of the Kitaike (North Pond), there is a hillock called Momijiyama (Maple Hillock). In autumn, the hillock is covered with brilliant autumn foliage. The earthen bridge that spans the canal connecting the North Pond and the South Pond is called Momiji-bashi (Maple Bridge).
