In the southeast of the Kogogu-tsunegoten(Empress's Residential Building), there are three rooms: the Jodan-no-ma (Upper Room), the Chudan-no-ma (Middle Room), and the Gedan-no-ma (Lower Room). The Chudan-no-ma is south of the Jodan-no-ma, and the Gedan-no-ma is to the west of the Chudan-no-ma. Formal events were held in these three rooms, which are decorated with cautionary paintings in the Tang painting style. In the Chudan-no-ma, there are 16 panels of paintings depicting the ancient Chinese legend titled "Legendary Virtuous Women of Ancient China: Jiandi, Mother of Emperor Qi" by Yoshida Genchin,
