In the Higashi-goen-zashiki, a pair of cedar doors (sugito) features two paintings by Kokubu Bun’yū: “Ryo-u-ō Nasori “(a scene from a traditional court dance) and, on the reverse side, “Forsythia Blossoms”. At the southern end of the room, another pair of cedar doors, marking the boundary with the Minami-goen-zashiki features a painting by Ukita Jōan titled “Peony and Horsefly”.
